Day-by-Day Itinerary

Follow the journey day by day while keeping the complete route in view. The map stays beside the itinerary on larger screens, helping each destination fit naturally into the full Vietnam story.

Day 1 - Hanoi Arrival

Arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam's thousand-year-old capital. After welcome and private transfer to your hotel, the day is shaped around your arrival time. If time allows, begin gently with Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, the Old Quarter's craft streets, and a cyclo ride through the French Quarter, passing landmarks such as the Opera House, the Metropole, the State Bank, and the Central Post Office.

Day 2 - Hanoi City Tour

Spend the day discovering Hanoi's cultural and historical landmarks. Visits may include the Temple of Literature, Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential Palace area, Ho Chi Minh's stilt house, and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. In the evening, enjoy a traditional water puppet performance, one of northern Vietnam's distinctive cultural arts.

Day 3 - Hanoi - Hoang Su Phi

Leave Hanoi for Hoang Su Phi, one of Ha Giang province's most untouched mountain areas. The journey introduces the dramatic scenery of the far north, with rice terraces, deep valleys, and remote villages. Arrive in the afternoon and settle into a mountain eco-lodge or similar retreat, with time to relax and absorb the setting. Depending on the evening program, local Dao cultural performance may be arranged.

Day 4 - Hoang Su Phi Hiking

Spend a full day walking through the landscapes around Thong Nguyen and Nam Son. The trail passes terraced rice fields, gardens, streams, and local homes, with opportunities to observe daily life and meet ethnic communities along the way. The walk is generally moderate, with some slopes and stream crossings, and usually lasts around five to six hours. Lunch is taken picnic-style or in a local home before dinner and overnight in a simple local setting.

Day 5 - Hoang Su Phi - Ha Giang

Continue deeper into the northeast toward Ha Giang, a wild region of limestone peaks, granite outcrops, winding roads, and immense mountain views. The drive itself is part of the experience, revealing valleys, rugged slopes, and remote settlements. Arrive in Ha Giang late in the day and check in for the night.

Day 6 - Ha Giang - Dong Van

Travel toward the Dong Van Karst Plateau, one of Asia's remarkable geopark landscapes. The road winds through limestone massifs and high mountain scenery, with stops that may include Lung Tam, where Hmong women preserve linen weaving traditions; Pho Cao, known for traditional earthen houses; and Sa Phin, home to the Vuong Family Palace, a striking blend of Chinese and local architecture. Arrive in Dong Van in the afternoon.

Day 7 - Dong Van - Nho Que - Meo Vac - Bao Lac

Follow the celebrated mountain road across the Ma Pi Leng area, one of the most dramatic stretches in northern Vietnam. Descend toward villages and viewpoints around the Nho Que landscape, passing karst peaks, steep cliffs, and ethnic minority homes. Continue through Meo Vac toward Bao Lac, then visit Khuoi Khon, a highland hamlet of the Black Lolo community, for an overnight stay in a traditional local house.

Day 8 - Bao Lac - Quang Uyen

Depart for Quang Uyen, a small district on the way to Cao Bang and close to the Chinese border. On arrival, explore Tay and Nung villages known for traditional houses, Yin-Yang tiled roofs, and long-preserved craft traditions. Visits may include Phia Chang, associated with knife forging, and Phia Thap, known for incense making. Overnight with a Tay family in a traditional stilt house.

Day 9 - Quang Uyen - Ban Gioc - Cao Bang

Travel east through green hills and borderland scenery toward Trung Khanh. Visit Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Asia's most impressive waterfalls and among the world's notable cross-border falls. Continue to Nguom Ngao Cave, where stalactites and stalagmites have formed over centuries, before returning to Cao Bang for the night.

Day 10 - Cao Bang - Hanoi

Return to Hanoi by road after breakfast. The journey brings you back from the mountains to the capital, arriving late in the afternoon. The evening is free for rest, a gentle walk, or an optional foot massage after several days of mountain travel.

Day 11 - Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Hanoi

Travel to Ninh Binh, a landscape of limestone peaks, waterways, and rice fields. Visit Mua Cave and climb the stone steps for a panoramic view over Tam Coc. Continue with cycling in the countryside and a boat journey along the Ngo Dong River, passing rice fields, karst cliffs, and caves. Return to Hanoi at the end of the day, or optionally overnight in Ninh Binh to reduce driving time before Ha Long Bay.

Day 12 - Hanoi - Ha Long Bay

Depart for Ha Long Bay and board a traditional-style cruise for an overnight journey through the limestone seascape. The cruise may explore Bai Tu Long Bay or quieter parts of the greater bay area, with time for island views, a small boat or kayak excursion, relaxation on deck, and an onboard cooking demonstration. Lunch and dinner are served on board.

Day 13 - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi - Fly to Hue

Wake early for sunrise over the bay and, when offered, Tai Chi on deck. Continue cruising through lesser-known corners of the bay, with a possible cave visit before brunch or lunch on board. Disembark, return to Hanoi, and take an evening flight to Hue, Vietnam's former imperial capital.

Day 14 - Hue City Tour

Discover Hue's imperial heritage and refined cultural identity. Visits may include the Imperial City, royal tombs such as Gia Long or Minh Mang, garden houses in Phu Mong village, Thien Mu Pagoda or the quieter Tu Hieu Pagoda, and Dong Ba Market. Depending on timing, you may also witness monks' prayer sessions in one of Hue's atmospheric pagodas.

Day 15 - Hue - Hoi An

Travel from Hue to Hoi An along the central coast, with scenic stops on the way. The route may include lagoons, Lang Co, Da Nang Bay, the Hai Van Pass, and the distinctive roadside cemetery region sometimes called the City of Ghosts, where elaborate tombs reveal local burial traditions. Arrive in Hoi An in the afternoon.

Day 16 - Hoi An Ancient Town and Countryside

Explore Hoi An on foot, visiting assembly halls, historic pagodas, the Japanese Covered Bridge, old merchant houses, museums, silk shops, and lantern workshops. Later, cycle into the surrounding countryside through rice fields, villages, shrimp farms, and vegetable gardens. In Cam Chau or a similar village, discover the traditional stages of lantern making and try your hand at part of the process.

Day 17 - Hoi An Free Day

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Hoi An. You may browse local craft shops, visit silk and tailoring workshops, cycle through nearby villages, spend time on An Bang or Cua Dai beach when weather allows, or simply enjoy the riverside atmosphere, cafes, and lantern-lit streets at your own pace.

Day 18 - Hoi An - Da Nang - Fly to Hanoi

Enjoy free time for relaxation or last-minute shopping before transferring to Da Nang Airport for the flight back to Hanoi. The schedule is arranged around your onward plans, with the evening in Hanoi available for rest before departure.

Day 19 - Hanoi Departure

Spend your final day in Hanoi with free time for shopping, rest, or independent exploration, depending on your flight time. At the scheduled hour, transfer privately to the airport for departure. End of services, with the option to adapt or extend the journey on request.
